The Making

of a Global

Steel Company

Although BlueScope Steel is a young company, listing on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2002, our heritage is great and we comprise some pioneering businesses in Australia, New Zealand and North America. These are: the Broken Hill Proprietary Company, John Lysaght, Australian Iron and Steel, New Zealand Steel and Butler Manufacturing Company.

Today, BlueScope Steel is an international steel solutions company with a manufacturing and marketing footprint spanning Australia, New Zealand, Asia and North America. Our Company is the world's leading supplier of high quality metallic coated and painted steel products for the building and construction sector. We also supply customers in the general manufacturing and automotive sectors.

BlueScope Steel employs more than 18,000 people and operates 91 manufacturing plants in 17 countries around the world. Our Company operates three first rate steelmaking facilities - Port Kembla Steelworks in Australia, New Zealand Steel near Auckland, and North Star BlueScope Steel, our Ohio-based joint venture in the USA. As a result of our recent capital investment phase, we now operate the Asia-Pacific region's largest network of metallic coating and painting, rollforming and pre-engineered building facilities.
